Ups and Downs

I have been hanging out/living in Hong Kong for two weeks now, but this is the first day I have been well enough (without pain enough) to be a tourist.

I started in Central, where I have spent much of my time in physical therapy. This is a great part of the city for modern architecture.

I rode up the elevator in the Bank of China building to get a view of the harbor. What I found most interesting was the little "land reclaimation" project going on. I hate to think that people who paid for guaranteed harbor views knowing that they were at the edge of the water will now lose those views because someone "moved" the water further away. Reality is harsh.

And, of course, a view of the traffic I sit in prior to each physio appointment.

The world's simplest elevator button sequence... (even I could figure this one out!)

And a sign you would only ever see in a Hong Kong elevator...

Then it was back down to sea level before hopping on the tram up to the peak. My ears are popping today!

Now, that's a view!
I hiked over to the other side of the peak to see the park and to try to catch a sunset, but it looked pretty hazy.
Back on the tram side of the hill, I found the second trail which would take me along the harbor-side of the hill. As the sun was setting, I walked and shot (and played with shutter speeds).

I know it's a lot of photos, but since I stood on the hill in the dark and then walked home alone (down the steep hill) in the rain (with no umbrella), with my arm still in a sling, trying desperately not to slip and rebreak my arm (or another body part), you have to suffer through half a dozen of my favorites. Oh, and did I mention I had no idea where I was going and my map didn't cover the area very well? Luckily, I have a good sense of direction and made it home pretty directly. (Which is why I didn't make you suffer through ALL the photos!)
