Traffic here is no joke.
But, there are a few differences between here and the rest of Southeast Asia. Firstly, they don’t put quite as many people on a single motorbike. Also, they actually wear helmets here. But there are just so many more people that it makes it a little crazy.

It is common in Southeast Asia to have to just walk out in the street and weave your way between the cars and motorbikes to cross the road, but in Vietnam, you have to walk very slowly as cars whiz past you. Here is a video I shot of Jennifer trying to cross the street. Notice that she is even at a crosswalk, but no one stops to let her go.
The traffic was so nuts that it made me think of a new game. Traffic Tag. You get a point for every moving vehicle you touch while you cross the street and extra points for crossing first. Of course, this is not a game for the faint of heart. Jennifer and I did not end up playing because we were too busy talking (and trying not to get hit), so I can’t say that this game has been field tested. If you try it, let me know how it goes, but play at your own risk.
