European Vacation

"Umm, we thought you were in Thailand. When did you fly to Vienna?"

"Well, if it's not Austria, it is Germany, right?"

"Italy?"

"Paris!"

"Umm... OK, now we're confused."

Yes, it is very strange to see such a European collection of buildings in Thailand, but I assure you that is where this is. This is Bang Pa-In, a summer palace still used occasionally by the royal family. As you can see in the photo above, some of the buildings here are done in a traditional Asian style; however, most of the present-day buildings were designed by King Rama V after his grand tour of Europe, hence the very European feel to the palace grounds.

In addition to the Thai-style building shown earlier, there is also a Chinese-style residence.

But European architecture dominates.

This last photo shows a tree that is surrounded by climbing vines with different colored flowers, which makes the tree appear to have flowers of many colors. Clever trick.

That is wild. I really like the tree with the vines on it. Good commentary as well.
