A Place to "Chiang Mai" Hat

After spending a few days just walking around Chiang Mai, I decided to head up to Doi Suthep, which is a hill outside of town with a wat at its peak. The views were hazy, so I will spare you those images, but of course I have some others.

These are some little girls in traditional dress who I thought were cute.

This is a naga (multi-headed serpent), whose body extends up the length of the stairs to the wat.

And this is the central chedi at the wat in the afternoon sun.

I just thought this statue was cool -- no real explanation for its inclusion.

Then back down the stairs... you can see how long the nagas' bodies extend up the stairs on either side.

And someone who visited the wat for its intended purpose, unlike me.

This is a 100+ year old teak temple covered with shimmering decorations in the heart of the city.
