Saints Day

Coffee is a solution to lack of sleep, right?
Fortunately, some of the major sites to see in Kiev are within an easy walk from my hostel.

St. Sophia...
(Of course I climbed the tower. Silly question.)
St. Michael the Archangel...
St. Andrew...
Well, I think that is enough of pastel and gold domes for one day.
Helen was feeling under the weather, so only Jeroen and I headed out for drinks. We found ourselves at a dive bar that could have been in the US. In fact, when the (really talented) cover band sang, they even sang in American/British accents. I was completely caught off guard when the singer suddenly started speaking in Ukrainian to address the crowd. (OK, maybe crowd is the wrong word. Maybe baker's dozen is more appropriate, but you get the point.)
On the way home, we passed this life-sized statue. These are very popular in Kiev.
